Visitors wishing to explore the legendary Great Barrier Reef without getting their hair wet or by taking lessons in scuba diving or snorkelling will especially enjoy the Seawalker Helmet Diving experience.
This absolutely unique diving experience takes place beneath the Moore Reef at the Green Island Dive Centre, which takes about 45 minutes to reach by ferry from the fleet terminal at Cairns Reef.
The specially designed Seawalker Platform Helmet allows wearers to walk along the sand of the Great Barrier Reef without swimming or diving. This unique helmet, unlike conventional scuba diving gear, allows wearers to breathe underwater in the same way as they would above the surface. The helmet also keeps hair and faces dry.
Up to six people at a time can learn how to use the Seawalker Platform Helmet prior to exploring a fan coral garden filled with hundreds of tropical fish. All Seawalker participants must be at least 12 years of age and in good health prior to taking part in this unusual and unforgettable underwater experience.
Although the Seawalker Platform Helmet is safe and easy to use, guides will always be alongside participants to help out when needed. Smaller participants will have collars placed on their shoulders to help the helmet fit more comfortably.
